About this blog

A blog about the meanderings of a craft designer and hand maker living in a beautiful island at the end of the earth....I'm a weaver addicted to her little Ashford Knitters Loom, a crocheter, knitter, painter, gardener and grandma. Rowena lives in Tasmania - a world apart, not a world away!

Niche at the Boatshed

What a great venue !  Thanks Selena and St Giles.    Rowena had a great day.  I am so honoured to be able to show my wares for sale with such wonderful designers and makers.  I know I say it a lot but it's true - it's truly stunning how many fantastic makers we have here in Tasmania.  The range and quality of goods is amazing.  I'd like to buy something from everyone!

I was really thrilled with the new rack from Dexion in Launceston.  It showed off the scarves beautifully and I know it contributed to several sales.  It really makes a difference when the browsing is easy.  Thanks Leigh!

Hot off the Press from Selena Palmer

It is that time again - all the details of the wonderful design emporium Niche are below. We have over 30 stall holders with 25 of those new!
Please note the change of location to the Boathouse - North Esk Rowing Club. The University Art Gallery continues to be a strong supporter of Niche but they have some amazing national exhibitions in and there was not the space for both this time round!
Please pass this email onto all your contacts to ensure that Niche continues to grow.
Cheers

Niche allwrapped up for St Giles

So excited !  Rowena has just been accepted for the forthcoming St Giles fundraiser Niche allwrappedup Market.  It's over two days and will be held at The Boathouse, Lindsay St, Invermay on Friday 30th and Saturday 1st May......just two weeks time!

This year, there will be THREE markets instead of the usual one pre-Christmas.  This is great news for local craftspeople and boutique manufacturers as well as the community : three opportunities to raise much needed funds for this amazing organisation!

Another Great Day !

What a wonderful handmade community we have here in Launceston !  Thanks to Tameeka, Kylie and all my fellow marketeers for another fantastic day out at the Civic Homespun venue last Saturday - 10th April. A friendly and supportive lot we are too.  It's a fantastic way to spend a day - talking to interesting and passionate people about what they like to do best, and getting a chance to talk to prospective customers to find out what they are looking for.  Although numbers of visitors to our venue appeared to be down a little (weather ??) there were still buyers about and thanks to all those who helped Rowena have another successful market. xxxooo

Tameeka says that the next one - Saturday 24th April - will be HUGE !  More stallholders than ever.

See you there.

To Market, To Market.....

Rowena will be out with Tameeka and the other gals and guys this Saturday at the Pilgrim Hall opposite Birchall's Car Park in Launceston for a wonderful market day this Saturday 10th April.
What a fantastic way to enjoy a day out and being able to sample the stupendous range of homemade wares available in Launceston is a bonus!
